The culture of Egypt is the richest the world has ever known. In 1999, Dr. Hatem El Sayed, of Port Said, Egypt, opened Al Masri to bring his cuisine and culture to the sophisticated palates of San Francisco. Today, Al Masri holds a coveted reputation for its dedication to authenticity. Al Masri is a collage of Egypt’s seven thousand years of history and tradition. On the menu, you will find dishes as ancient as the pyramids to modern interpretations created for His Majesty King Farouq I, the last monarch of Egypt. The ambiance takes its inspiration from the royal tomb of King Tut. Hand-painted images of Ancient Egyptian artwork grace the dancer’s stage, main dining room and continue throughout the “Isis Room”, our 12 guest private dining room. The full bar offers guests an extensive wine list, Egyptian beer, and an exciting selection of signature cocktails. Included in your dining experience are our nightly “Raqs Baladi” performances
(coined in America as “Belly Dance”).
