Project Open Hand is proud to announce we’ve been selected as one of 500 finalists in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, which will award vehicles to 100 nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public. That means we need YOUR help! We encourage you to vote for Project Open Hand on August 13th and help us win a new Toyota Highlander Hybrid which we will use to deliver daily meals to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, the homebound/critically ill, and seniors in San Francisco and Alameda County. The fuel efficient Highlander Hybrid, which achieves an impressive 28 miles per gallon, will replace a 16 year-old 8-cylinder cargo van that barely gets 9 miles to the gallon. The new hybrid vehicle will dramatically lower Project Open Hand’s delivery vehicle operating expenses and will improve the organization’s delivery fleet fuel efficiency. We will save money on both fuel costs and year over year maintenance and repairs. These savings are especially important to us because every dollar saved is money we can use to purchase nutritious food for the people we serve.
Vote on August 13th at www.facebook.com/toyota and help us win a new delivery vehicle so we can continue serving meals with love to our neighbors in need!
