ArtPeople Gallery presents Swiss artist Nicole Bron Chappuis' first show in the United States, a powerful and unique combination of works entitled BALANCE & UNITY. Show dates: June 1st-30th.
In an era where the media and the internet overwhelm our lives; where everything goes so fast; where communication via machines is so omnipresent that we sometimes have no time, that we cannot take the time, for us, quite simply, the work of Nicole Bron Chappuis (NBCH) forces us to stop for an instant.
Without any fuss or ornament, this Swiss artist speaks a language that is common to all of us, an elementary language mixing geometry, substance and color; and where finesse and subtlety manage to hide between squirts, gradients or slight curves. Nicole brings us back to the simplest things in life; she pulls us out of the vortex that surrounds us.
Take the time to dive into her intense monochromes, where sand is worked into the pieces with a spatula; enter her “windows” where solid colors are expertly mastered and unite with carefully designed squirts to produce so many vibrations. This balance, acquired through serenity and a touch of insanity, is what makes NBCH’s work so captivating. It resonates with us, for this duality is part of each and every one of us.
