Amelie is a modern wine lounge with French flair. Its dramatic walls of lushly lit wine bottles and souring wooden wine shelves transport you far from the hubbub of Polk Street.
Whether you're looking for a romantic rendezvous, a place to unwind for happy hour, or a lively hangout, you'll find the perfect spot at Amelie. The vintage theater seats in the up-front lounge are ideal for meeting friends or making new ones. Settle in at the sleek, lacquered red bar and you'll likely be served by one of the co-owners. Head to the back, and a quiet oasis of cozy booths and candlelit tables awaits you.
The wine list is comprised of high quality yet affordable wines from around the world. Half of the list is European with a heavy emphasis on France, with the rest from California, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Chile and Argentina. During happy hour (5:30pm - 7:00pm), indulge in a $10 customized flight with any three wines by the glass. Amelie also serves Champagne, Lillet, Soju cocktails, and a wide selection of beer.
And equal amount of thought and attention is given to food and wine pairings. Our menu hits the spot whether you're in the mood for a savory munchie, a light dinner, or a decadent dessert. Favorites include Raviole du royans, miniature cheeses, ravioli imported from the south of France, gratineed with chanterelles and truffle oil, paper thing flatbread topped with oxtail and watercress, a place of French cheeses and homemade jams and a sublime chocolate tart.
Amelie is owned by two Frenchmen, Germain Michel and Samie Didda, and is named after Samie's daughter. Samie is also co-owner of the highly acclaimed French bistro Chou Chou in the San Francisco neighborhood of Forest Hill, where he developed a city-wide reputation for his homemade chocolate and fruit tarts. Germain was Chou Chou's manager and resident wine expert and his is behind Amelie's bar seven nights a week.
