Roosevelt Tamale Parlor

Legend has it that Roosevelt Tamale Parlor was started in 1919 by a Dutch immigrant who so admired Teddy Roosevelt, that he named this San Francisco restaurant after the 16th U.S. President. Since 1919, Roosevelt Tamale Parlor has survived as a legend in its own right – a venerable San Francisco institution that has been patronized by loyal customers for decades. Today it is run by Chef/Owner Hector Flores (Don Pico's, rib shak), who purchased it in 2005 and gave it a much-needed face-lift. The d
