Marina Abramovic Institute West

MAI was established to help preserve performance art and increase its audience. According to its eponymous founder, the institute's goal is to inspire research, as well as to foster creativity and collaboration among an international network of artists whose work focuses on the performative as well as the conceptual. Marina Abramovic Institute West is located at 575 Sutter Street in downtown San Francisco, and contains 13,000 square feet of experimental exhibition space. In addition to monthly shows, which will feature emerging and internationally recognized artists, MAI West will function as an educational forum, with an on-site and digital library, artist workshops, conferences, and a lecture series.
