Whether a child can read proficiently in elementary school is a key predictor of future life prospects and low income children in San Francisco are being left behind. Currently serving 8 San Francisco elementary schools, Reading Partners' goal is to expand services to at least 4 new schools.

Once a child is below grade level in reading, the achievement gap only accelerates over time.
