Cecilia Vicuña’s “Kon Kon”

Cecilia Vicuña’s “Kon Kon”

Thursday, Feb 16 5:00p
Price: Free
Age Suitability: None Specified

Chilean poet, performance artist and filmmaker Cecilia Vicuña will introduce her latest work, “Kon Kon.” In this documentary poem, Vicuña returns to Con Con beach, the birthplace of her art in Chile, where the sea is dying and an ancient tradition is being wiped out. Over centuries, the “sonido rajado,” a powerful and unique sound, emerged. She explores connections between her art and the ancient music and oral traditions while witnessing the ecological and cultural destruction.
