The Programme: Designing For High Impact & High Growth
Day 1: Feb 10th
Designing World- Changing Breakthrough Innovations
9-11am Breakthrough Intentions & Mission Clarity
Positive impact is derived from having absolute clarity of intention and harnessing all your power to realize it to its fullest conclusion. To ensure you can do this without blockages we will probe towards a fuller understanding of your intentions and your social mission. We will explore the 5 engines of leadership and look at how to avoid the many pitfalls of change-making. We will also explore how to surface assumptions within your model of change to prevent failure further down the line. This also aids in ensuring collaborations work.
11am-12pm Systems Mapping for Systemic Social Innovations
Moving from the personal to the global, you will learn how to map systems for successful innovation. Systems thinking helps you find sweet spots for transformative interventions; identify collaboration opportunities for faster, cheaper and better impact; and guard against negative unintended consequences of your actions.
12pm-3pm Designing Breakthrough Social Innovations
Once you system is mapped we will use a suite of powerful innovation tools to uncover profound insights into the root causes of the social and environmental problems you want to impact. We will look at how to 'myth bust' to generate a creative leap in the space; and how to design breakthrough social innovations by recombining the value propositions of existing solutions. We will explore the critical facets of breakthrough and systemic innovations and ensure that you know how to tweak your project to fulfill these criteria.
We complete the session by honing your ideas into a clear value proposition which we can build a business and impact model around in day 2.
3pm-4pm Impact Metrics & SROI
You will learn how to use various intervention analysis techniques to help ensure your value propisition will actually create the impact you intend; as well as which tangible impact measures / metrics will help you and your funders / investors know if your interventions are working.
4pm-6pm Impact Storytelling Introduction
We will look at why stories rather than data / facts move people to invest, fund, use and volunteer for your enterprise. Then you will be introduced to the our unique wecreate story engine for social innovators (which is based on Hollywood script-writing best practice and the latest narrative theory). Together with your peers you will work on your enterprise pitch story, and we will as a group help each person hone theirs to perfection.
Takeaway: A clear systemic intervention, the innovation concept and the impact 'story' for pitching

What is the focus of this 2 day module? In this foundation module we focus on the most important areas for all change-makers: What drives you and why? How is your past inspiring or limiting your future success? How do your intentions impact your ideas, interventions and impacts? What are your underlying assumptions that have you believe your project will create a major, lasting difference? How can you design your projects so that they become systemic, radical social innovations that forever change the space you work in? What kind of business model do you need to make sure you can deliver your project sustainably and with minimal stress? How can you talk about your ideas in a way that clearly communicates your story as well as drives others to act (whether that is to fund, invest, volunteer or support you)?
What happens on the other 8 days? You can see the full curriculum here .
Why leadership development? A priority is given to leadership because the only things that can ever stop a change-maker are their own perceived limitations. Everyone will be offered world-class leadership techniques to help develop the deep resilience, radical optimism and the extreme agility neccessary to change the system forever.
Why come together to learn, think and design? Science has now proven that the level of success, happiness and positive impact we achieve with our lives is dependant on the quality of our peer groups. Plus, any ambitious idea can only be achieved in this networked age through collaboration. Therefore The Impact Accelerator is a place to exchange ideas and support with a community of like-minded peers that you can grow - your enterprise and your potential - into the future.
What happens after the Accelerator? All participants will be invited to buddy up with each other and engage in an 8 session peer-to-peer coaching experience within our Wecreate framework. We will also explore a monthly networking, kno wledge-sharing and community support meetup which you can self-manage and grow over time. We will also be offering online webinars in future for all graduates.
In addition, we aim to run Part 2 of the Accelerator - focusing on rapid-growth brand strategies and marketing (incl. social media marketing) - in Fall 2012. All participants who complete the course will be offered a discounted place.
About Nick
Nick Jankel, founder of Wecreate and the designer of The Impact Accelerator, works at the confluence of innovation, entrepreneurship and the collective good. Nick set up a strategy and innovation consultancy which helped launch Xbox by the age of 25; built a multi-million pound company with 50 staff, advising No.10 Downing Street on innovation before he was 30; and by the time he was 31 he had walked away from the corporate world to become an ethical entrepreneur dedicated to enabling the co-creation of a radically better world through ethical innovation. He has worked on innovation with companies such as P&G, Microsoft, Kraft, Unilever, Smirnoff, Virgin and many more, as well as with non-profits such as WWF and Oxfam. He has run his own company for 12 years, with the last 8 without doing any projects that contribute to the suffering in the world. He has given keynotes and lectures at places as diverse as Oxford University, The Economist Summit, The Institute of Directors, The Kaos Pilots, The European Parliament and Ford Motor Cars and writes for The Guardian and Financial Times on innovation.
You’ll never discover new lands, unless you can leave sight of the shore. Nick acts as both a compass and a Gale Force 9 wind! Peter Wright, Marketing Director, Tesco (Britain's largest company)
N.B. We have priced this experience at way below the market value. We want to ensure we don't exclude anyone. This is also why there is a donation-based option as well. Future programs will include a 'premium' with which we can run a simplified version of the Accelerator for homeless and at risk youth, and thus maximize our own impact. Due to the nature of the event, we may have to postpone (or even cancel). In this event, you will receive a full refund. We may adjust the programme due to our commitment to continuos improvement. However the core focus will remain as stated.
