2010 South Bay Opening Day
Boating Festival and Decorated Boat Parade
April 9th – 11th, 2010
The public is invited to join the Port of Redwood City and the yacht clubs of the South Bay for the 2010 South Bay Opening Day. This year’s theme is “Ride the Tide to the South Bay.”
The festival will begin Friday evening with dinner at the Coyote Point Yacht Club and end Sunday morning with a Gin Fizz Brunch at the South Bay Yacht Club. There will be lots of great exhibits, water activities and other tasty dining options to fill your weekend. All activities, other than meals, are free to the public.
The highlight of the weekend will be at 10:30 am on Saturday with the Decorated Boat Parade and Blessing of the Fleet at the observation deck of the Port of Redwood City (adjacent to the Sequoia Yacht Club parking lot on Seaport Boulevard). Spectators will vote for their favorite decorated boat to determine who will receive the coveted “Spectators Choice Award”. A US Coast Guard Cutter will be open for tours. Breakfast and lunch will be available at the Sequoia Yacht Club. Cocktails and dinner will be available at the Peninsula Yacht Club on Saturday evening. A Gin Fizz Brunch will be served at the South Bay Yacht Club on Sunday morning.
All those with sailboats, powerboats, jet skies, canoes and kayaks are all invited to participate in the parade in support of this community event.
