New Orleans music legends and stars of the blockbuster HBO series Treme bring to SFJAZZ another rollicking night of Crescent City sounds! Created by the producers of The Wire, the acclaimed program paints a true-to-life portrait of the Tremé neighborhood in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, focusing on the musicians who are fundamental to the area’s identity. Another Night In Treme features an unbelievable cast of legendary New Orleans artists from the vibrant musical patchwork that defines the Big Easy. Five-time Grammy winner and 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dr. John appears with his supercharged band, The Lower 911, performing music from their new Nonesuch album, Locked Down, produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. For this date, Dr. John is joined by celebrated New Orleans pianist and singer Jon Cleary, known for his work with John Scofield and Bonnie Raitt, who calls Cleary "the 9th wonder of the world." Born out of the influential Dejean’s Young Olympia Brass Band, The Soul Rebels have become one the hottest names in New Orleans music, having shared the stage with Galactic, The Roots and Allen Toussaint. They’re riding high from the release of their new Rounder CD, Unlock Your Mind. Mardi Gras icon Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Leo Nocentelli of the celebrated funk unit The Meters and Dumpstaphunk leader Ivan Neville will join them for this event.
