Award winning author Annie Fox will speak to parents and educators on the topic ‘Why 21st Century Kids Need 21st Century Parenting’ on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the St. Martin of Tours School gymnasium, 200 O’Connor Drive in San Jose. Ms. Fox will focus on helping parents tune into kids’ modern day challenges and priorities, recognizing the role stress plays in a child’s life and how it can negatively impact decision making skills, how parents can learn to gain control of their own stress response to be more effective parents, and how parents can be more understanding of the 21st Century reality and open to the resources available to them. This event is the first in a series of parenting workshops offered by St. Martin of Tours School. Other speakers for the 2011-12 Parent Education Series will include Jim Lobdell, Peggy Orenstein and Erica Pelavin. Cost to attend a single event is $7 in advance or $20 for the series. The St. Martin of Tours Community Parenting Education Series is produced each academic year by St. Martin of Tours School. The series presents nationally recognized speakers on topics related to the development and growth of children from kindergarten through young adulthood.
