Phyllis Theroux: Phyllis Theroux, essayist, columnist, teacher and critically acclaimed author of California and Other States of Grace introduces her newest book, The Journal Keeper: a memoir. In it she slips her arm companionably into yours, like an old friend going for a stroll through six years in her anything but uneventful life. She swings easily between subjects that occupy many who are mid-way through their lives: love, loneliness, children, financial worries, spiritual growth and in her case, watching her remarkable mother prepare for death.
