Parenting Anxious Children (5 - 10 years old)

This talk will provide an overview of the characteristics of different anxiety disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, separation anxiety, social anxiety and panic disorder. We will examine potential causes of childhood anxiety as well as factors that contribute to its maintenance. Strategies for home and school will be explored with emphasis on the role that parents can play in supporting their child’s adjustment and success.
Heather Taylor, Ph.D.
Psychologist
Dr. Taylor is a licensed psychologist whose clinical areas of interest include adoption, attention and behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and a variety of anxiety disorders. In addition to conducting neuropsychological evaluations, she enjoys providing parent-training to families of children with attention, anxiety, behavioral, and/or developmental disorders, as well as working individually with children and adolescents.
