Cafe Casa

Cafe Casa opened on Sept. 26th 2008 when brothers, Jim and Chris O'Meally completed a 3 month, vigorous remodel of a previous restaurant location at 3136 Sacramento St. in Berkeley, CA. We were searching for locations up and down the coast...from Santa Barbara to Santa Rosa for an ideal location for our Wine Bar/Restaurant and Gallery. Facing a number of obstacles, from parking to city "use permit" obstacles to downright "bad" locations, we decided on our current location in South Berkeley that provided a great neighborhood, ample parking and an existing Beer and Wine license. After 3 months of working seven days a week and doing all of the remodeling ourselves, we finally opened the doors. Both Jim and Chris have extensive knowledge of wines and worked in the wine industry on and off since teenage years. Jim's background is as a classical/jazz pianist and chef, previously working as a pianist at the Ahwahnee lodge in Yosemite Nat'l. park. Brother Chris' backgrounds stem both in music and photography, having worked for numerous advertising agencies and magazines such as Time and playing in bands opening for nat'l acts. We are combining our multiple backgrounds of music, art, the culinary arts and wine. What a perfect pairing if you ask me. Our menu is diverse, our wine list is extensive and whether you are seeking a glass of wine from $5(less at happy hour)...or possibly seeking a rare find from the Wine Spectator's Top 100 wines of the world, there's a good chance that you will find what you are looking for.
