Clones Irish Crochet

Classes will be limited to a maximum of 20 students
If minimum registration is not met by April 1, class will be cancelled. Early sign up appreciated
Students must have basic knowledge of and practice in thread crocheting and able to work at their own pace with mid day breaks for practice. Skills will be developed in making the traditional motifs of small roses, large roses, shamrocks, vine leaves, and grapes as well as the unique Clones knot filling stitch and edging. Making a pattern and template will be taught.
Day 1: Introduction to Clones Irish Crochet Lace. Máire will give a short talk to the group on the history of Clones Lace. Those who have attended her workshops previously can work at their own pace. You are welcome to prepare motifs prior to the workshop so that you will obtain the most benefit from the workshop, learning how to do the background, or improve it. Máire will also demonstrate other techniques in Clones lace.
Day 2: Irish Crochet Jewellry. Máire will present examples of jewellry that she has developed from last year, as an inspiration to this year’s workshop. Students are welcome to bring along their own ideas on Irish Crochet jewelery.
Day 3: New ideas and inspiration in Clones Irish Crochet Lace, such as masks and other modern Irish Crochet ideas. Some of the participants might have developed their own inspirational pieces. This will be a workshop of inspiration and new ideas.
Day 4: Practise how to edge and finish a piece of Clones Lace. Also Máire will give tips on how to launder your Irish. Crochet/ Clones Lace, once you have completed your piece.
