Often cited for his biting political pieces, and called a lyrical genius with a guitar, Jim Page is making a rare Bay Area appearance. John Trudell said of Jim Page: "Making coherency with words and music, Jim taught me a lesson."
Longtime music critic Phil Elwood commented, "More reminiscent of the Woody Guthrie I heard as a boy than anyone I've listened to in the intervening years." The late Utah Phillips was also an enthusiastic and politically in sync fan, saying, "Jim Page's songs get right to the point. He looks at the world clearly and reports what he sees with compassion, humor and a biting sense of irony. And boy! can he sing and play."
Sharing the stage with Jim is Mokai, featuring his signature fingerpicking on guitar and bluesy voice, bringing songs from his recently released CD, Any Distraction'll Do. Mokai is a dynamic performer who plays earthy, original music, letting loose his smooth and beautiful vocals enveloped in fast and innovative fingerpicking riffs.
The East Bay Express commented on his "jazzy, jammy bluesy structures around earthly laments, tales of ordinary folks, and the human struggle in general. "
"Seeing Mokai perform is like coming across a humorous and earnest Johnny Appleseed in the psychic parking lot of our everyday vanities and preoccupations." said Theo Langton of l'Ingenue Farfallue
