2012 Summer Seminar for College Students

This week-long seminar, hosted at Notre Dame de Namur University in the San Francisco Bay Area, features advanced lectures by university professors and Independent Institute fellows. Addressing topics of particular concern to college-age participants, this session will deepen students’ knowledge by exploring more rigorous questions regarding freedom and economics. Students staying on campus will have access to the university’s amenities including cafeteria, pool, athletic fields, dorm common areas as well as nightly events.

Ethics and Liberty: Examination of natural rights and their importance in free, peaceful societies

Austrian Economics: How information and actions are coordinated among free individuals
Wednesday
Property and Profits: How competition increases wealth and prosperity
Thursday
Order without the State: Why business cycles of boom and bust are created by government intervention
Friday
Open Discussions: War and economic and civil liberties
