Stage Door Conservatory will offer four popular summer camps (Kids on Stage, On Broadway, Teens on Stage and Backstage) in musical theater and the performing arts to children in the 3rd through 12th grade this coming summer. Our programs begin June 14 and end August 20 and are offered in two to six week increments.
Stage Door Conservatory’s programs provide an enriched, supportive and often profoundly memorable experience for children interested in developing and expressing themselves as young actors and theater artists and are based in North Berkeley at 1953 Hopkins Street. Each session focuses on the creation and performance of a play, including two full-length Broadway productions for our older participants. This year, On Broadway (grades 5 - 9) will present ''Bye Bye Birdie'' and Teens on Stage (grades 8 - 12) will present ''Chicago,'' while Kids on Stage (grades 3 - 5) will perform plays like ''Free to be -- You and Me,'' ''You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown'' and ''Kabuki Gift.''
Suitable for both children new to theater and experienced actors, our camps offer an inspirational opportunity to learn the arts of acting, singing, dancing, costuming and
stage and set design, as well as to become part of a supportive, engaging creative community.
Sessions are 2 - 6 weeks and are overseen by professional theater educators with strong commitments to children including notable East Bay director, Simon Kaplan, director/
choreographer, Katie Kimball and musical director, Theresa Ames.
Our camp day begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. and we offer pre-care and after-care.
